Dr. Elizabeth Sawin co-directs the Climate Change Simulation Program at Sustainability Institute in Hartland, Vermont. Her most recent work has been focused on helping create user-friendly, decision-maker oriented simulations of climate change that help people understand climate dynamics and analyze the long-term impacts on the climate of greenhouse gas emissions reductions policy options. As a part of the Climate Action Initiative she is working internationally, particularly in relationship to the UNFCCC negotiations, and in the US to use climate simulations to help leaders in business, government, and civil society understand and achieve climate policy ambitious enough to avoid the most dangerous consequences of global warming. She is also a facilitator in the Donella Meadows Leadership Fellows Program, which trains an international group of sustainability leaders in systems analysis and other skills. Elizabeth holds a Ph.D. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
