Assistant Professor position in Environmental Science and Management at Portland State University
The Environmental Science and Management (ESM) Department at Portland State University (PSU) invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Management, with specialization in social science aspects of environmental management. Candidates must possess a PhD degree in a social science field or from an interdisciplinary program with strong social science content. The candidate must have demonstrated expertise in environmental topics. They must also demonstrate a strong record of research scholarship, publication, and grant support in environmental science and management or evidence of strong potential to attract external funding in this area. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively across disciplines within the School of the Environment (http://www.pdx.edu/environment/research-groups) and is encouraged to work with the Institute for Sustainable Solutions (http://www.pdx.edu/sustainability/institute-for-sustainable-solutions-at-portland-state-university) and other disciplines. We are seeking a scientist who can conduct and eventually lead research in coupled human-natural systems, including the interactions and feedbacks between humans and terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Experience in partnering with public and private stakeholders on this type of research is considered valuable. Contributions to university interdisciplinary initiatives in sustainability, health, and urban ecology will be encouraged. Required duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in environmental management, conducting research on environmental management topics, and providing department and university service.
