Job Summary
The Community Resilience Specialist works under limited supervision to support Extension program area activities, including resourcing, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs in collaboration with Extension specialists, Extension educators, and other state-wide stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Contribute to strategically building and supporting a strong multidisciplinary team of internal and external collaborators focused on environmental planning, environmental and social justice, community resilience, and renewable energy siting
- Engage in developing, evaluating, and refining programs and technical assistance activities to support Indiana communities with environmental planning, environmental and social justice, community resilience, and renewable energy siting
- Support and conduct applied research and remain abreast of current research and other developments in community development, planning, community resilience, and renewable energy.
- Acquire extramural funding and fees to support programs
- Actively participate in professional activities at the university, state, North Central Region, and national levels
What We’re Looking For:
- Masters in Applied Economics, Planning, Public Affairs, Sociology, Sustainability, or related disciplines
- 3 years of experience working in a professional role in the Cooperative Extension Service system or closely related areas of work, such as: community colleges/adult education programs; community-based organizations; state, regional, or local community development organizations/agencies; community development oriented foundations or experience in other related areas of work
- Strong working knowledge of community development, community planning, and sustainable development theories and practices
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse team members
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge and experience planning, implementing, and evaluating adult educational programs
- Capacity to work and function successfully in a team environment
- Ability to incorporate innovative approaches for expanding audience reach
- Travel
