Grants for Earth Science Information
Collaborative Network for Valuing Earth (CONVEI) aims to advance the assessment of Earth Science Information (ESI), including satellite-based Earth Observations (EO). Despite their widespread application, the exploration of ESI’s full societal benefits remains limited, primarily focused on economic benefits. To this end, we are offering multiple grants ranging from $100,000 to $125,000 for case studies valuing ESI across a range of decision contexts. This call for cases seeks to:
- Explore the diverse values of ESI, including those that cannot be monetized, such as increased sense of security, enhanced community connections, and improved representation in decision-making processes
- Expand the methodologies used to assess these values
- Reflect the complexity of the process of information entering into decisions
Grant Details:
- Amount: $100,000 – $125,000 per grant OR we offer an option to host a fellow supported by WWF for 1 year. Please see solicitation for more information.

Please share this information widely. CONVEI is committed to expanding the community of Earth scientists and social scientists involved in valuing information, so researchers who produce ESI but haven’t considered how to assess the value of their work before, or social scientists who assess values in other fields but not necessarily applied to information are very welcome to apply. Including underrepresented or underserved communities in the team undertaking the research or the values that will be assessed is also highly encouraged.
