Positions in Water Research and Ecosystem Services, China
The School of Nature Conservation of Beijing Forestry University (China) invites applications for regular university positions (e.g. lecturer, associate professor) or post-doc positions in the area of water research and ecosystem services. Research areas sought include: hydrology and water resources, water footprint, wetland hydrology, e-flows, climate change, ecological impacts of hydrological changes, ecosystem services and management. One main task of the School of Nature Conservation is to carry out internationally outstanding research on hydrology and water resources, and ecosystem services, and will closely collaborate with a number of international partners/organizations including the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Austria), Cambridge University (UK), Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag, Switzerland), UNESCO-IHE (Netherland), Water Footprint Network (WFN, the Netherlands), International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI, USA) etc.
Successful candidates will have the ability to develop an active research program, and form interdisciplinary connections with international partners. The candidates are expected to perform independent research and provide administrative support. If desired by the candidate, integration into the academic teaching at BFU is possible.
Required qualifications include:
- Doctoral degree in hydrology and water resources, environmental science, ecology, or ecological economics, or closely-related field;
- Level of offer from post-doc to associate professor depends on years of post-graduate experience;
- Excellent written and spoken English and strong computer and analytical skills;
- High level experience in statistical, mathematical and numerical modeling and programming skills are preferred;
- Ability to work across disciplines and ability to publish on peer-reviewed, international scientific journals.
