It is one of two non-tenure track Research Faculty positions within the Gund Institute, offering early- career scientists an opportunity to develop a research program in productive collaboration with faculty and students at UVM and elsewhere. Extending the appointment is possible based on external funding.

Responsibilities also include teaching one course per year. Research Faculty are expected to engage actively with the Gund Institute community, and with emerging campus-wide research initiatives focused on complex systems and/or food systems (www.uvm.edu/~tri/).
QUALIFICATIONS – Applicants must have a doctoral degree in ecology, economics, environmental studies, or related fields, as well as 1 to 4 years of post-doctoral experience. Successful candidates will have strong quantitative skills, expertise in analyzing or modeling social-ecological systems, a growing record of publications and scholarly activities, and a commitment to connecting research to real-world issues.
APPLICATION – Applicants should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, a two-page statement of research interests, and contact information for three references to www.uvmjobs.com (posting #0040301). Review of applications will begin on March 15, 2012 and we anticipate a start date of September 2012. Inquiries may be made to Taylor Ricketts, Director, Gund Institute for Ecological Economics, at taylor.ricketts@uvm.edu. The University of Vermont is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research and teaching. Applicants must describe in their cover letter how they will further this goal.
