The future incumbent of this position will establish and oversee programs and policies to improve EPA’s statistical activities and inform Agency decision-making with high quality statistical evidence. The ideal candidate is a statistician with extensive current or former experience that demonstrates leading the successful creation and establishment of statistical programs or research on new methods and techniques. We are open to various specialization and interest areas that candidates may bring, as they will have the opportunity to work on a wide-spanning portfolio, including:
- Providing statistical or other quantitative method expertise in the data analysis of biological, toxicological, ecological, economics, or epidemiological analyses;
- Collaborating closely with EPA’s Statistical Officer, Evaluation Officer, and Chief Data Officer to implement the Evidence Act, including the development and maintenance of an assessment of statistical capacity at the Agency level;
- Applying state-of-the-art statistical methodology to pressing research and policy questions, including improving current methodologies and/or developing new methodologies to solve specific problems;
- Conducting research to develop methods and applications that facilitate the use of statistical modeling, machine learning, dose-response modeling, and/or data mining in human health and ecological toxicology research, exposure assessment, risk assessment, and/or policy analysis;
- Representing EPA on statistical issues with internal and external stakeholders.
