Tenure Track Position at Virginia Tech: Human Dimensions of Fish & Wildlife Conservation
The Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Tech seeks to fill a tenure-track position in the area of human dimensions of fish and wildlife conservation, defined broadly as work at the interface of social and ecological systems. Candidates from various academic backgrounds will be considered, but all will be expected to focus on interdisciplinary research related to fish and wildlife conservation and include a social science component.
This is a full-time, tenure-track, 9-month appointment at the level of Assistant Professor with primary responsibilities in teaching (50%) and research (50%). Development of an independent, externally funded research program that supports graduate students and engages undergraduate students is expected. The successful individual will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise, with an average teaching load of 1.5 to 2 courses per year, one of which will be an undergraduate course for majors in the human dimensions of fish and wildlife conservation. Participation in departmental, college, and university affairs is expected, as is an interest to engage collaboratively with faculty both within and outside the department.
