
Director of the Office of Risk Assessment and Cost Benefit Analysis
The Director of the Office of Risk Assessment and Cost Benefit Analysis is an SES level position that serves as a member of the leadership team in USDA’s Office of the Chief Economist (OCE). The Director has responsibility for planning, coordinating, and managing the Department’s risk assessment program; this includes reviewing and approving all risk assessments accompanying proposed major rules of agencies within USDA. The Director also coordinates with other suboffices within OCE on the review of cost-benefit analyses in the Department. Candidates are sought who have comprehensive technical knowledge of risk assessment methods and the development and use of scientific research for use in risk assessment, and of the methods of economic and cost-benefit analysis. Candidates should also have an ability to apply analytical techniques to the resolution of practical problems relating to risk assessment and agriculture.
