United States Society for Ecological Economics (USSEE)

Advancing a just and sustainable society within the biophysical limits of global ecosystems

15th Annual Meeting of the Society for Environmental Law and Economics

15th Annual Meeting of the Society for Environmental Law and Economics

July 31, 2023

The fifteenth annual meeting of the Society for Environmental Law and Economics will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 22 & 23, 2024, hosted by the Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida. We hope to build upon the great success of past meetings, and continue to build a community of environmental scholars interested in working in the intersection of law, economics, social science and environmental or natural resource issues. We welcome both theoretical and empirical papers, as well as studies looking at problems at local, state, national, and international levels. Our goal is to create a program that includes a variety of disciplinary perspectives.

In the spirit of collegiality, the meeting will use a workshop format in which all sessions are plenary. Please note that all participants are expected to attend all of the presentations. It is a core value of our group that every presenter receives the same amount of attention.

No funding will be available for travel or lodging expenses. Food and drink will be provided during the workshop and a dinner will be hosted on Friday evening by the Florida State University College of Law for the speakers. For those interested, there will be an informal tour of the Wakulla Springs watershed at the end of the conference, on either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, finishing at Wakulla Springs State Park near Tallahassee.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: To submit a paper, please email a PDF or word file to Shi-Ling Hsu (shsu@law.fsu.edu) with the subject line “SELE SUBMISSION,” by November 15, 2023. We will review all submissions and provide notice of the outcome of your submission by December 15.

FURTHER INFORMATION: We will provide information regarding accommodation options, the conference program, and other logistic matters in January. Inquiries can be sent to shsu@law.fsu.edu. Please feel free to forward this call to any colleagues that you feel may be interested but may not be aware of SELE.

We look forward to welcoming you in Tallahassee!
